Editorial & Concept Shoots

We like to think we are more than ‘just’ a bridal boutique. We are a stling hub for the modern bride. We are a place where new trends are embraced and exciting concets experimented with. This section of our blog showcases just that. Our in house shoots with teams of creative and like minded UK bridal suppliers and our editorial presence on both social and published media. We hope we can inspire you too…

“I know a bank where the wild thyme blows, Where oxlips and the nodding violet grows, Quite over-canopied with luscious woodbine, With sweet musk-roses and with eglantine: There sleeps Titania sometime of the night, Lull’d in these flowers with dances and delight.”
A Midsummer Night’s Dream (2.1.255-60) Shakespeare

The Concept…
The White Room, Sheffield collaborated with some of Sheffield’s most creative and forward thinking stylish wedding names to create this styled shoot to inspire brides with colour, botanical beauty and extraordinary fabrics from Claire Pettibone and Kate Halfpenny. We wanted to romanticise the new collections at The White Room, to showcase them in a stripped back way, in a non-wedding environment to show how individual pieces all work together, embracing colour, fabrics and styling options. We really wanted to work with the natural theme, raw, exposed brick juxtaposed with the softness of the silks and the ornate and rich tones of the cake and jewellery.
The Dresses…..
The White Room have been representing Claire Pettibone since the boutique opened back in 2011 and their love for the in-depth thought and creativity for their collections makes them a label which not only excites year after year it is also one which inspires us to take the collections and shoot and style them with like minded local suppliers and talents.
The gothic angel collection is no exception. Inspired by the stain glass windows of the most famous churches and cathedrals of the world, the gothic angel collection from Claire adds a dimension of colour and creativity to bridal which no other designer features or creates!
Hues of silver, gold and The White Room new favourite, blue, this collection sees a plethora of colour intertwined with subtle details and beautiful cuts, creating a collections that is not only wearable but memorable beyond anything else!
The Shoot….
The White Room wanted to showcase this beautiful collection with a styled shoot. They chose the uber talented and artistic wedding and fashion photographer India Hobson to shoot the gowns. Chloe Barrow, owner of The White Room and stylist of the shoot says “we’ve worked with India on shoots since we very first opened and love her vision and ability to grasp what our boutique and brand is about. I knew that India would see this new collection by Claire as creative and artistic and would capture the femininity that these gowns have once you see past the dark and mysterious exterior of colours and embellishments”.
We shot in Sheffield, at India’s studio, a old warehouse vibe space with a working bakery in site! The rustic back drop was not only perfect for colour matching the gowns but offered a complete juxtaposition of the softness of the gowns with the rawness of exposed steel, brick and concrete”.
We shot the Rachael, Evangeline, Eden and Florence gowns from the gothic angel collection as we wanted a contrast in colours, shape and style.
The angelic wings on the Raphaella make this gown a stand out piece for us at The White Room. We bought the sample for our boutique but changed the silk from blue to pearl (Ivory) so brides can experience the gown in a less statement way! We also made our delicate embroidered wings detachable so we can add them if the bride is wanting that element of creativity or not.
We partnered with Campbell’s flowers for the decorative details and Tracey grasped our brief with the creativity and British florals she is renowned for. This shoot featuring divine Claire Pettibone and Kate Halfpenny dresses is just so dreamy…the soft colours, the embellishments, the soft sweep of fabrics, the ethereal tone of the images…just heavenly.
The concept, loosing based on Titania from A Midsummer Nights Dream, was dreamt up by Chloe who owns gorgeous Sheffield bridal boutique, The White Room.
