Times are changing. Designers are changing.
The White Room is changing.
Today, it’s my absolute pleasure to introduce you to the exquisite work of London based luxury bridal designer, Andrea Hawkes and to welcome this new innovative and stylish bridal designer (as one of our new labels!) to The White Room!!
After almost 5 years of business, The White Room not only recognises when something good is coming, but also when changes are needed. It’s so very easy to keep the same labels, to repeat on the same gown year after year… But where is the variety? Where is the love for new things? Where is the desire for the bride to come in and not try on something her friend wore in 2013 or that she can get on pre loved for a grand cheaper??
The White Room has always been and will continue to be at the forefront of leading the way in design and offering brides more than the ‘standard’ wedding gown. Change has to be seen as a good thing and viewed in a way that what once worked for us, no longer does. 2016 is all about changes – positive ones at that!
Following on from being a 1st UK stockist of one of our current stunning labels (Halfpenny London) we can now announce that we will be THE 1st luxury Bridal Retailer in the North of the UK to house this fashion forward, distinctive label (until all the cool kids catch on that is!)
We bring you Andrea Hawkes…. The label for the understated, minimalist fashionistas out there who love the idea of separates, sumptuous fabrics and feminine yet tailored cuts. Those looking for petticoats, volume, sparkle or fairy lights should probably turn the page now…. Those who appreciate class, elegance and design, continue…
Andrea Hawkes is a Luxury British Bridal designer based in Clerkenwell, Islington, London. She set up her studio back in 2013 having worked for some of the most established British Bridal Designers in London and from designing one off commissions from her London studio she started to see a demand for a more simplistic approach to Bridal design and the experience of searching for a wedding dress. This inspired her to design a collection of classic dress shapes using luxurious European fabrics such as Italian silks and French laces.
Over the last couple of years Andrea has built a reputation for her classic, modern aesthetic and attention to detail from Condé Nast Brides, Elle Wedding and has been highly regarded by British Vogue as a recommended British Bridal company for it’s fashion forward approach.
The key elements to the collection are based around using the best and most beautiful sourced fabrics, made in their London studio by their talented team and keeping to a simplistic design aesthetic. Having this strong ethos and design aesthetic their concept is to simplify the bridal experience by offering an honest approach to having a beautiful wedding gown made.
All their pieces are individually hand made in their London studio too (which The White Room love!). Why? Well apart from the support this shows to UK trade and business, we are also showing that we don’t need to go overseas for beautiful craftsmanship and high level cut of the clothe. We have it on out doorstep and we should be supporting this as much as we can!
Her signature? a stylistic collection of modern silk wedding dresses with strong shapes and clean lines. Her collections includes ‘Auden’ a silk wedding dress with sleeves, signature seams and button and loop detail. ‘Stella’ a two piece wedding dress with its simplistic shape and ‘Eva’ with traditional corset structured bodice and Willow/Floe wedding dress separates with French lace and silk slip top.
A capsule collection of lightweight silk and lace dresses, focusing on relaxed silhouette shapes with classic couture finishes are also available. A continuation of their fashion forward approach whilst retaining the Andrea Hawkes timeless element to suit the expectations of todays bride. Includes separates and handmade silk belts.
Our initial investment in the collection is currently being cut as I type, so we are expecting the 1st delivery of our chosen designs around June 2016.
Gowns start from £1,800 and the separates from £400. Keep your eyes peeled on our website and blog for more information and a date in which we will be hosting a launch event at The White Room in Sheffield for this beautiful British label.
